Monday was Daddy's birthday. We did a few chores that morning, got ready and headed to the Park and Rec Center for the monthly luncheon. There was a good crowd and they sang happy birthday to everyone who had a July birthday. Yummy food and birthday cake too. Afterwards, we played cards til about 5pm. We finally got the hang of "Nine Hole Golf." Greg got home from work and we went over to Dale and Lisa's house for their son's 4th birthday. Ethan looked so cute! His sister Millie was adorable. They both gave me a hug and Ethan gave me sugar on the cheek. Ahh..how sweet! Then we went to the Reservoir for dinner at "Cock of the Walk."
We had fried chicken and catfish, cornbread and hushpuppies, turnip greens, slaw, pickled onions, fried pickles and ice tea. They sang happy birthday to Daddy and brought him hot applesauce cake. Daddy really enjoyed it. We drove home in the rain with full tummies. It was a busy and long day, but it sure was fun.

Daddy visiting from Alabama
This past week has really been fun. Daddy came home with us for a visit. We have been busy doing something everyday. We've been to the Brighton Park and Rec Center several times. The seniors gather there everyday to play cards, dominoes, eat and visit. We met some new friends and learned some new card games. We had a great weekend. Saturday was a relaxing day. We cooked burgers and fries for lunch. Played rummy and mexican train dominoes. Greg played very well. He beat both of us! We ordered pizza for dinner and watched a movie. "Oh Brother where are thou" was filmed in Mississippi. Sunday was a busy day. We went to church, then out to lunch at Applebee's. Afterwards, we went to the Clinton Visitor Center to see the "Shade Tree Musicians" We listened to them play and sing. They invited me to sing along. I was a little rusty, but I jumped right in. Met some nice folks there. Daddy really enjoyed listening to the music and meeting the musicians. We came home to rest a minute and freshen up. Then off to Jo Carol's house. She is new to Clinton also. She invited us and several other folks we had met to her home for a sit down dinner, complete with name cards at your seat. It was delicious! She had a birthday card and gift for Daddy. We all sang Happy Birthday to him. He smiled like a possum!
Yes, it has been a good weekend for us all.

Weekend at home
What an awesome weekend! This has been one of the best weekends we've had in Clinton, MS.
We relaxed around the house on Saturday, playing Rummy and Dominoes. That evening, we ordered a pizza and watched a movie. Today, Sunday, we went to church, then had lunch at Applebee's, followed by a bluegrass/country jam session at the Clinton Visitor's Center. There were about 10 or 12 musicians, playing guitars, violins, and mandolins.

Then, for a perfect ending to the day, we had a fabulous dinner, with about 10 friends, hosted by one of the sweetest ladies in town!
